Is natural

hormone

therapy even possible?

Over the last couple of years we have learned that artificial hormones (such as the hormones in the contraception pill) are actually really bad for the balance in our bodies. But in some cases a hormonal treatment is the only choice.

I am not a doctor, so keep that in mind. But i want to share my story of a natural hormonal therapy. I struggled with hormonal imbalances due to my amenorrhea and anorexia. My body was totally shaken up and all the levels were way too low. My doctors always told me to go on the pill or do a hormonal treatment. But I googled the side effects and was shocked by it. Breast cancer, strokes, clogged blood vessels, only to name a few. So I thought this was not an option for me.

But there actually is a natural way to have a hormonal treatment. And I will tell you all about it.

First of all, lets have a look at hormones in general. Hormones function as messengers between body systems to regulate your physiology and behavior, such as digestion, metabolism, respiration, tissue function, sleep, stress, growth, movement, reproduction, and mood. They are basically involved in all the important processes of the body. That explains the tremendous negative effects, when the system is out of balance.

So what did I do? The answer is bioidentical hormones.

The hormones in the pill and in many other medical treatments are artificially made and therefore not natural and a little different to the hormones that our own body produces. They are very similar but the little changes are the cause for all the horrible side effects that can occur. BUT did you know that plants have hormones as well? And the hormones in plants are identical with the hormones in humans. They are called bioidentical hormones and have almost no side effects at all.

Bioidentical hormone therapy is often called "natural hormone therapy" because bioidentical hormones act in the body just like the hormones we produce. Technically, the body can't distinguish bioidentical hormones from the ones your ovaries produce. On a blood test, your total estradiol reflects the bioidentical estradiol you've taken as well as the estradiol your body makes. In germany you will have to pay for those hormones yourself, because they will be made especially for you to fit your bodies needs. That can get quite expensive over time, but it was definitely worth it for me. I got the hormones pressed into pills and i had to take one in the morning and one at night.

Obviously I am not a medical practitioner and i won’t be able to tell you what works for you. But for me it was a massive eyeopener to learn about bioidentical hormones.

I think it is an important topic and if you have any other questions about it, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Namaste and have a beautiful day!
