5 secrets to healthy and shiny hair.

How is your hair so shiny and healthy? One of the questions i frequently get asked on my instagram. Today i am going to reveal my 5 secrets to healthy hair. (This is a sponsored post)

1. Don't wash your hair every single day.

Washing your hair every single day can damage your hair. Even if your shampoo is absolutely amazing and pure, you can have too much of a good thing. It will remove the natural oils your hair needs to stay healthy and stripping it can lead to dry, brittle locks.
You may think that this sounds gross and dirty, but your scalp can get really irritated by overusing any product. It’s important to massage the scalp and make sure it stays in a (generally) healthy state.

2. Brush your hair with a bamboo brush.

Bamboo bristles will gently help to naturally condition your hair and evenly distribute all natural oils. They won't produce any static and they are sustainable as well. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources. It has a rapid re-growth cycle and can easily be grown without chemicals.  Bamboo brushes are also surprisingly soft, smooth and free from sharp corners, so when pulled through your hair, they detangle gently and won't break your ends.

3. Coconut oil is magical.

Coconut is my magic ingredient, when it comes to hair and skin. The oil is rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the scalp and hair. Its is quite cheap and will "feed" your hair from the inside out. You can use it as a hair mask or even a styling product for natural shine. And don't even get me started on the smell. I have to stop myself from eating my hair after a coconut oil treatment.

This is how i use it as a deep conditioning treatment:

  • Scoop a small amount of coconut oil into a pan and let it heat up a little, so its nice an melted.
  • Gently massage the oil into your hair, especially focusing on your dry ends.
  • Wrap your hair up in a shower cap or small towel and allow it to soak in for at least half an hour.
  • Shampoo twice to remove oil.

4. Natural shampoo and conditioner.

When picking a shampoo, I would always go for the all natural and gentle version. Make sure its free of silicones, parabenes or sulfates. I currently use and love the new Aurabotanica Series by Kerastasse*. It's 96 percent natural and smells amazing.
It actually contains my favorite hair secret (Coconut oil) as well as  Moroccan Argan Oils. Everything is handpicked and responsibly sourced. Argan oil is just as amazing as coconut oil for your hair. It is rich with vitamins A, C and E, as well as being loaded with antioxidants, linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids. It helps to boost cell production which results in healthier skin and hair.  Both of these natural oils combined in one - create my perfect product.

"EVERYTHING I EAT, EVERYTHING I PUT ON MY FACE, EVERYTHING I PUT IN MY HAIR, OF COURSE, I WOULD LOVE TO BE AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE." (Toni Garrn)

I totally agree with Toni on that. It's important to check the ingredients and the production of your beauty products before using them. That is why i was invited by Kerastasse* (who kindly sponsored this post) to test the new line for you.
We got to try the complete hair treatment with the lovely new line. All Kerastasse salons will do a personalized assessment of your hair and pick out exactly the products that will work for you. I have a really sensitive scalp and quite dry hair. Therefore I can't use a lot of shampoos, without them making my scalp get all flaky and gross. But the AuraBotanica line really works for me and i can honestly recommend it to you. I personally use their shampoo, deep conditioner as well as the moisturizing oil-mist to keep my hair nice and shiny. Click HERE to have a closer look at the products.

Would you consider trying it out? Make sure to check the salonfinder to check your closest Kerastasse salon HERE.
