Power recipes for power women.

Because my "How to get your period back" - Post was really appreciated, I decided to share some powersmoothie recipes with a ton of healthy vegan ingredients, that will help to balance out your hormones and get your period back asap and even fight menstrual cramps.

(This has to be marked as an advertisement, because I tagged places and brands - not sponsored)

How to prepare:
All you need is a good blender (I am using the Vitamix Pro 750 - you can find it here) and some fresh ingredients. I would always go for organic, but that is totally up to you. Make sure to wash everything to get rid of nasty toxins and chemicals.

Purple banana smoothie bowl.

  • 2 Bananas (important for the sweetness in this smoothie and  a perfect source of fiber)
  • A hand full of blueberries (blueberries protect our bodies from damage by molecules that can damage cellular structures and contribute to aging and diseases like cancer, they contain the highest antioxidant capacity of ALL commonly consumed fruits and vegetables)
  • 1 tablespoon of peanutbutter (perfect source of some extra healthy fat, as women we do need to have a slight higher bodyfat percentage than man to function properly)
  • 1 purple plum (plums help with maintaining healthy bones,  they can prevent diseases such as osteoporosis when not having your period, they can even help in the restoration of bone density that has already been lost due to aging)
  • a little bit of cinnamon (cinnamon reduces menstrual pain and has warming properties. The hydroxychalcone in the cinnamon helps to regulate insulin levels and is one of the active ingredients that normalize the menstrual bleeding.)
  • Almond milk (i use vanilla flavored almond milk, it tastes amazing and balances out your hormones at the same time)

Go green or go home smoothie.

  • 2 hand full of spinach (contains an ample amount of nutrients like Vitamin E, Vitamin B6, and Magnesium, which have been shown to soothe the uterus and also fight menstrual cramps)
  • 1 huge mandarine or 3 little ones (mandarine are an excellent source of vitamin C, which can be used to induce menstruation. This is because higher doses of Vitamin C can reduce the amount of progesterone in the uterus. This allows the endometrial lining to shed, and helps relax the cervix in order to expel the menstrual materials out of the body, Vitamin C naturally increases your estrogen levels, which increases uterine contractions and the growth of the uterine lining.)
  • 1 apple (the soluble fibre found in apples binds with fats in the intestine, which translates into lower cholesterol levels and a healthier you)
  • a little bit of parsley (drinking parsley tea or eating it raw causes contractions in the uterus, which helps bring on your period)
  • 1 tomato (A single tomato can provide about 40% of the daily vitamin C requirement)
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (It contains lauric acid, which is incredibly healing to the skin and extremely beneficial for hormonal production. It also kills bad bacteria and viruses in the body, provides a quick source of energy, is easy to digest, and speeds up metabolism.)

Beetroot banana pancakes.
  • 2-3 boiled beetroots (beetroot is a plain superfood, along with dozents of other fantastic qualities, their generous helpings of folate, fiber, and betalains place beets amongst the best anti-inflammatory foods on the planet)
  • one teaspoon of ginger (Ginger is one of the best foods to help with irregular periods. It balances the menstrual cycle and relieves menstrual pain. Ginger stimulates menstruation and is especially useful with delayed or too weak periods)
  • 3 carrots (carrots are a good source of iron, raw carrots promote proper hormonal function and improve the health of the mucous membranes and skin)
  • 1 banana (as a sweetener an an egg-replacement, a perfect source of fiber)
  • 2 cups of flour (to get a pancake texture, without flour it will get kind of mushy and burn more easily)
  • some agave nectar (agave, as compared to other sweeteners, has a desirable low-glycemic index, so your blood sugar levels wont spike as high)
  • almond milk (i use vanilla flavored almond milk, it tastes amazing and balances out your hormones at the same time)
How to make it:
  • Just mix all of your ingredients with your vitamix
  • Place the batter in little servings on a baking sheet and bake for 15min at 200°C
  • Drizzle with agave syrup and serve with a cut banana and coconut flakes
