Eating in Berlin: Ma'loa

What: Ma'loa
Where: Oranienburger Straße 7, 10178 Berlin

Today my boyfriend Till and I got to try the hawaiian restaurant Ma'loa in Berlin's city center. The little place just opened and is focused on - so called - Pokebowls.
While it may seem like a new trend, this simple and addictive Hawaiian dish has been around for centuries. It’s basically Hawaii’s favorite food and for good reason: Poke is healthy, delicious and totally unique.

Without a doubt I have to say the restaurant is the most beautiful one I have been to in Berlin so far. It is exactly my style and I would decorate my own cafe exactly the same way. Once you step in, you feel like you just landed on a tropical island. It's super green with loads of plants everywhere. On shelfs, the ground and even hanging on the ceiling. You will find surfboards with the menu on it, fresh fruit and veggies, amazing artsy collages and even little swings to chill on while you are enjoying the food. Honestly a dream come true.

We started our stay of with coconut water, freshly served in the actual coconut. It was absolutely delicious and sweet. After that we shared one of their smoothies as well. They have a ton of variety, when it comes to drinks and our berry smoothie was definitely a good pic.

When it comes to the Pokebowls you can mix and match anything you wish or just choose one of the ready made bowls right away. The original bowls come with some kind of fish, but you have tons of vegan and vegetarian options as well. I was so amazed, not only how yummy the food was, but also how appealing it looked. I took tons of pictures and I know you will too, once you give Ma'loa a try.

As a dessert we had a typical Hawaiian rice cake. We got to try all 4 flavors. They have the weirdest texture to be honest. It is a soft squishy little cake and kind of chewy as well but really sweet and just the right little snack to end your meal at Ma'loa.

I would definitely recommend ANYONE to check them out. It is beautiful, yummy, healthy and the service is amazing too. Everyone is super friendly and relaxed and will help you with anything you might need. A wonderful spot to enjoy food and maybe even satisfy your wanderlust a little bit.

Namaste,
Hannah
